The Community Activity Organiser will work 21 hours per week within our established dementia resource centre in Oban, seeking out opportunities for people living with dementia to remain connected to their communities. The post holder will also be responsible for developing and facilitating a wide range of community activities for people living with dementia and their carers/families with a view to helping them to maintain social activities, relationships and community connections.
Successful candidates will have a positive approach to dementia supported by excellent communication and networking skills and an empathic, positive attitude. Having a creative flair and being a self-starter would also be an advantage as well as having experience of working with people with dementia. A willingness to develop through ongoing learning is essential.
Due to the nature of working within a small team there is a requirement to take on some basic administrative duties including: Ensuring that all mail is collated, stamped and taken to the post office by the end of the working day; Responsibility for banking and petty cash; Assisting with Communication - the processing of information to members, branches, groups, carers, staff and other agencies as required. This may include assisting in the production of leaflets, promotional materials, newsletters or other publications.
Occasional evening and weekend work may be required and a driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential to the role.
