Contract: 1 position, permanent, 35 hours per week, based in Greenock
Alzheimer Scotland is the leading dementia organisation in Scotland. We campaign for the rights of people with dementia and their families, whilst providing an extensive range of innovative, personalised therapeutic support services and investing in dementia research to towards prevention, better standards of care and ultimately to finding a cure.
Alzheimer Scotland is committed to improving the lives and opportunities of people with dementia, their carers, partners and families as their journey transitions from the first point of contact through to end of life and believes nobody should face dementia alone.
We are now looking to recruit a Dementia Advisor for the Inverclyde locality. This is an exciting role in which the successful applicant will be able to play a key part in making Inverclyde a truly dementia-friendly community. You will provide a range of resources, activities, information and advice to people who are living with dementia, their families and carers and to the wider community. Your support will help people to live well with dementia. You will assist people with dementia to exercise their rights, to have their voices heard and help facilitate meaningful engagement with local policy makers. You will work in close collaboration with your Alzheimer Scotland staff colleagues and volunteers as well as developing constructive partnerships with other local professionals and organisations.
The successful applicant will have a positive approach to dementia. You will be flexible, creative and innovative in your approach. You will be sensitive and compassionate with the ability to support people in times of difficulty or distress. You will be an excellent communicator who can work effectively both with individuals and with groups. You will have a positive approach to your own continued professional development and a willingness to participate in relevant training. A relevant qualification and previous experience of working with people with dementia would be an advantage.
