VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR - GLASGOW
HOURS: 1 position, 21 hours per week. The post is funded until September 2020.
We are delighted to be recruiting for a Volunteer Coordinator to deliver and develop our Forget me Not Service, an inspiring project providing people with dementia who live in care homes or hospitals with regular contact and support from a volunteer befriender, who gives companionship and helps to improve mental, physical and social well-being.
THE ORGANISATIONAlzheimer Scotland is the country's leading dementia organisation. We campaign for the rights of people living with dementia and their families, and provide an extensive range of dynamic, innovative and personalised support services in local communities. We have many volunteers supporting our activities and we recognise that these essential roles enable us to reach so many people.
THE POSITIONThe key role of the Volunteer Coordinator will be to: * Maintain a network of supported and trained volunteers* Maintain connections with care homes and a small number of hospital wards in and around Glasgow, making new connections where there is a request for volunteers* Be able to reduce social isolation, and increase motivation and confidence, for those living with dementia* Work in partnership with colleagues and other organisations to develop volunteering opportunities* Enable volunteers to access and benefit from existing Alzheimer Scotland groups and activities* Capture feedback, articulate outcomes and complete regular reports
THE LOCATIONThe post-holder will be based in Alzheimer Scotland's Dementia Resource Centre at Bridgeton Cross, Glasgow.
